There are a lot of diets that are being propagated by different health and fitness experts. These diets all claim one thing and that is efficacy. These diets vary on the principles it is based upon as well as the rationale behind each diet. These diets however may work differently on different individuals. We have to remember that the body is complex machine. It needs a lot of fuel in order to function. Unfortunately, unlike a car that can run on one particular type of fuel our body needs several types of fuel in order to function properly. Take on out and expect the unexpected.  An example of these diets is the high protein low fat diet.

In a high protein low fat diet the body it excludes carbohydrates. Which means that when you are on this type of diets you don’t get to eat foods that contain carbohydrates this is done so in order to trick the body to burn fat stores and turn it into energy. The explanation behind that is that foods that are the main sources of carbohydrates are utilized by the body in order to form energy. When these carbohydrates grow in excess it will be stored in the body and then turned into that. With the high protein low fat diet carbohydrates are a big no-no. When the external source of carbohydrate is being cut off the body will have no choice but to utilize its stores. Unfortunately, such practice can cause problems in the long run.

The downside of high protein low fat diet is that though you don’t ingest fat but you still get a lot of cholesterol since most foods that are high in protein are also high in fat. Like fat, high levels of cholesterol can also cause cardiovascular problems. In addition to that people on high protein low fat diet tend to excrete more calcium because this diet lacks that necessary nutrients that will help the body absorb more calcium. The end result is that people with this diet are prone to bone diseases like osteoporosis. This diet can also cause gout because some high protein foods are also high in uric acid.

If used long-term this type of diet can put you at risk for several medical conditions like kidney failure, heart disease and even cancer. This is due to that fact that the high protein low fat diet lacks the necessary vitamins and nutrients that the body needs in order to stay healthy. This diet may be effective in helping you lose weight but it is unhealthy to stick to this diet for long periods of time.
